El pastor siempre va adelante de su reba\u00f1o para protegerlo de cualquier ataque de animales feroces como lobos, leones, etc.\u00a0 Un buen pastor no abandona al reba\u00f1o en situaci\u00f3n de peligro, por lo contrario, est\u00e1 dispuesto a combatir a ese peligro, y har\u00e1 todo lo posible por qu\u00e9 no les hagan da\u00f1o, en otras palabras, dar\u00eda si fuera posible aun su propia vida, por el bienestar de sus ovejas; porque las ama.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Todo pastor tiene un cayado, este es como un bast\u00f3n que sirve para atraer o dispersar al reba\u00f1o, tambi\u00e9n como arma o para dirigirlas con seguridad hasta encontrar pastos frescos y abrevaderos para saciar su sed, que es de hecho la misi\u00f3n principal de los pastores.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">Lo anterior es una met\u00e1fora, de lo que es un pastor espiritual. Dios ha confiado la responsabilidad del cuidado espiritual de la iglesia a los pastores, por ello les dio autoridad, para que dirijan, cuiden y amen a una congregaci\u00f3n de creyentes. Jes\u00fas enfatizaba esto a Pedro en <span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\"><strong>Juan 21:15-17<\/strong> &#8220;<em><span class=\"text John-21-15\"><sup class=\"versenum\">15\u00a0<\/sup>Cuando hubieron comido, Jes\u00fas dijo a Sim\u00f3n Pedro: Sim\u00f3n, hijo de Jon\u00e1s, \u00bfme amas m\u00e1s que estos? Le respondi\u00f3: S\u00ed, Se\u00f1or; t\u00fa sabes que te amo. \u00c9l le dijo: Apacienta mis corderos.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"es-RVR1960-26916\" class=\"text John-21-16\"><sup class=\"versenum\">16\u00a0<\/sup>Volvi\u00f3 a decirle la segunda vez: Sim\u00f3n, hijo de Jon\u00e1s, \u00bfme amas? Pedro le respondi\u00f3: S\u00ed, Se\u00f1or; t\u00fa sabes que te amo. Le dijo: Pastorea mis ovejas.<\/span>\u00a0<span id=\"es-RVR1960-26917\" class=\"text John-21-17\"><sup class=\"versenum\">17\u00a0<\/sup>Le dijo la tercera vez: Sim\u00f3n, hijo de Jon\u00e1s, \u00bfme amas? Pedro se entristeci\u00f3 de que le dijese la tercera vez: \u00bfMe amas? y le respondi\u00f3: Se\u00f1or, t\u00fa lo sabes todo; t\u00fa sabes que te amo. Otro aspecto del trabajo pastoral es el atender, guiar, nutrir y cuidar a las ovejas y tener un coraz\u00f3n como el de Jes\u00fas, ya que debe estar dispuesto a dar su vida por las ovejas, y preocuparse por ellas genuinamente; adem\u00e1s debe trabajar con \u00e1nimo pronto, dispuesto a servir sin importar la compensaci\u00f3n financiera. <strong><span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\">1 Pedro<\/span><\/strong> tambi\u00e9n ense\u00f1a que los pastores no deber\u00edan de hacer su trabajo con se\u00f1or\u00edo (no dictadores), sino antes siendo ejemplo, porque las ovejas no les pertenecen. Ellas est\u00e1n bajo su cuidado.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0A los pastores fieles se les promete una corona incorruptible de gloria, aunque no reciban recompensa aqu\u00ed en la tierra,
